Real-world experience. Practical learning. Better career preparation.
Career Up Tech Lab was created to make technology, cybersecurity, and career development easier to understand and more practical to use.
Whether you're beginning a cybersecurity career, strengthening your technical knowledge, preparing for an interview, or trying to move forward professionally, our goal is simple: give you clear, useful resources built around skills and knowledge that matter in the real world.
Our study guides and career resources are designed for people who want straightforward explanations without unnecessary complexity. Instead of overwhelming learners with hundreds of pages of theory, Career Up Tech Lab focuses on the concepts, terminology, tools, and career strategies that professionals actually use.
Meet Chris Romano
Career Up Tech Lab was created by Chris Romano, CISSP, an information technology and cybersecurity professional with more than 30 years of experience across public- and private-sector environments.
Throughout his career, Chris has worked in technical, cybersecurity, consulting, leadership, and federal government roles. His experience includes 17 years in the federal sector, consulting work supporting major organizations and Fortune 500 environments, and decades of hands-on involvement with information technology and cybersecurity.
Chris also earned a bachelor's degree in Data Management and Data Analytics from Western Governors University and holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential.
But Career Up Tech Lab isn't built only around certifications or textbook knowledge.
It's built around what Chris has learned from decades of actually working in technology.
From Technical Skills to Career Skills
Technical knowledge is only part of building a successful career.
Over the years, Chris has also interviewed more than 400 job candidates, reviewed resumes, helped build technical teams, evaluated professionals at different career levels, and worked with employees ranging from entry-level professionals to senior leadership.
That experience is why Career Up Tech Lab includes more than cybersecurity study materials.
You'll also find resources designed to help with:
- Interview preparation
- Career planning
- Job-search strategy
- Technical interview readiness
- Resume and professional development
- Entry-level cybersecurity preparation
- Building practical IT and cybersecurity knowledge
The goal is to help learners understand both the technology and how to turn that knowledge into career opportunities.
Why Career Up Tech Lab Is Different
There is no shortage of technology information online.
The challenge is knowing what matters, what to focus on, and how the information connects to real-world work.
Career Up Tech Lab resources are designed around three principles:
Learn
Understand important cybersecurity, networking, IT, and career concepts through clear explanations and visual learning resources.
Practice
Build confidence by connecting concepts to practical examples, tools, commands, scenarios, and real-world applications.
Career Up
Turn knowledge into progress by developing the technical understanding and professional skills needed to pursue new opportunities.
Learn. Practice. Career Up.
Created From Experience — Not Generated to Fill Pages
Career Up Tech Lab resources are developed from Chris's professional knowledge and experience, not simply generated to produce another digital product.
The goal isn't to create the longest guide.
It's to create a resource that helps you understand the subject.
That means focusing on practical information, clear explanations, useful examples, visual references, and topics that connect directly to cybersecurity, information technology, interviews, and career development.
